Down the Path Less Travelled

Description

Hoping to get Buddha into the Olympics endurance, so entering her in a few endurance competitions to get her experience up. Love my little Obertaurer mare!

Entering in the June '13 Monthly over at #HARPG-URAssociation so I can try to get her merit levels up at the same time :D

With the music of the various TV shows he'd fallen in love with over the past few months playing into his ears, James was content to trot along the overgrown paths that led the way towards the finish line of his and Buddha's first official endurance race. The little mare was determined to say the least, and had been cantering the past dozen or so miles, only dropping back into trot to get her breath back before undoubtedly gearing back up into her lope.

With the Rains of Castamere filtering through his earbuds, James whistled along to the tune, and his mare flicked an ear back to listen, stretching her neck to loosen the reins slightly as they followed the path through the belly-high grass that stretched off into the distance on either side of them.

James wasn't sure where exactly the other competitors were - a small patch of trees quite early on had separated them out, and now he didn't know if they were in front or behind him. He did know that they were making good time though, and that Buddha seemed to have enough gas left in the tank for a big push to the finish line.

This looks great! Always glad to see more endurance racers in HARPG, especially ones who actually know a bit about the tack and gear involved. I admit I'm often too lazy to draw bibs and such. ^^;
